Freestyle Jam @ Full James – Update

FJ PosterThere has been a change to the original plan and the day of competition has now moved to the Sunday 21st. This will allow everyone time to practice and get used to the wave on the Saturday (coaching clinics and big trick comp still to run), to encourage more participants and a higher level of competition.
Registration starts at 9am on the Saturday, you can also register before 9:30am on the Sunday if thats the only day you can make it. Briefing 10am and competition starts at 10:30am.

SO…
Saturday 20th – there will be freestyle coaching sessions from 10am and a big trick competition running all day while we all free surf.

Sunday 21st – will comprise of freestyle competition for a range of categories – junior boys, junior girls, novice men and women, open men and women.
Prize giving will be approx 4:30pm with a range of spot prizes.

Entry fees:
Adults – $25
Juniors -$15
NZFKA members – $15

Camping – We have booked the National Equestrian Centre on Rapids Road for camping and is available for $10 per person. Saturday night no doubt there will be a few drinks to be had, and there will be a sound system and a projector showing the days rides. Also some super yum steak sammies and sausages on the BBQ will be sold throughout the day and a bit of the night so bring some gold coins and help support NZFKA.

If you don’t wish to enter the competition, and don’t want to be in to win spot prizes, and just want to surf the wave on the Saturday, you still need to pay an access fee of $5 and sign a terms and conditions of entry form. You can either pay that to the security company or give it to us and we’ll do it when we pay for holding the event.

Coaching – Coaching clinics will be run by last years NZ freestyle kayak team and other accomplished playboaters/instructors, tailored to suit the needs of those interested – can be anything from Rolling clinics to eddy turns to advanced aerial freestyle moves. Sign up before 10:30am and let us know what you’d like to work on. Coaching clinics $5 donation to NZFKS.
If you know already what sort of coaching session you’d like participate in, let us know on here.

So far we have support from Canoe and Kayak Taupo, Day Two, and a few other goodies from various legendary people with good baking skills.

Invite everyone you know, old and new, and come and enjoy the fun and warm water at Fulljames!
